Monica’s Motivational Moment: We Are Called

There are moments when we do not feel very strong, empowered or up to the challenge. We are worn out, and weary of being the one who has the burden of making things happen. We feel sorry for ourselves. We wish that we could sit on the sidelines and let someone else take over for a change.

We are called to show up fully. We are called to be the head and not the tail. We are called to do more and be more. We are called to design, to create, to believe, to push forward, to lead, to press toward the mark, and show others the way. It is our calling.

Monica’s Motivational Moment: Dreams Demand Action

Too often we desire a rich harvest or a field of realized dreams, hoping the power of believing will be enough to bring about a bountiful yield. We can almost taste the fruits of our labor, but often we go no farther than visualization. Stuck in the wishing phrase, we fail to plant a single seed or take a single step forward.

Planning is important. Visualization is a powerful tool, but nothing takes the place of consistent work and persistence. Our dreams demand action. Let us part the soil, deposit the seed, and do what it takes to get to the harvest.

Monica’s Motivational Moment: Remind Someone

Remind someone going through second-guessing, fear and doubt that they are more than a conqueror. Remind someone battling illness or setbacks that healing and solutions are possible. Remind someone feeling lost, resentful, exhausted and burdened that daybreak is close at hand.

Remind someone attempting to play small, that hiding from his or her bright light serves no one. Remind someone to get up after the fall and believe in the call to greater service.

Monica’s Motivational Moment: Our Call

We determine how we will face today. We determine if we will look at this moment with fresh eyes and new resolve, or if we will wear the familiar garb of doubt and fear. We determine if we will embrace this day with optimism and faith, or if we will utter the same old litany of alibis when obstacles and challenges occur.

We get to determine our reaction in the midst of the storm, drought or windfall. We determine if we show up ready for joy or filled with anxiety. It is always our call.

Monica’s Motivational Moment: Our Views and Opinions

There is no shortage of views and opinions from others when it comes to creating the life that is in alignment with our true purpose. Others profess to have a clearer picture of what is best for us, or how we should go about realizing our dreams. Fearing we are being unrealistic or destined for heartache, we are advised to abandon what we want and opt for the sure bet.

But the views and opinions of others do not have to define or discourage us. We can break free from the shackles of groupthink, crowd approval or conventional wisdom. In the end, we are responsible for the realization of our dreams. It is our views and opinions that really matter.

Monica’s Motivational Moment: Reaching Higher

The greater reward often comes when we dare to reach a bit higher, stretch beyond what is comfortable and challenge ourselves to grow. Moving past where we have been can leave us looking unsteady, but it is in those courageous moments that we reap the benefits of reaching higher.

We can fool ourselves into believing that grabbing the lowest hanging fruit is the best strategy. But miracles happen outside our comfort zones. Sometimes the best fruit is found at the end of the highest limb of the tree.

Monica’s Motivational Moment: Going for Our Gold.

The 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio have come to an end, but the inspiration of the athletes will live on. We were moved by the stories of those who beat the odds, pushed through pain, and tuned out external noises that dared to remind them of previous missed moments of glory. Those who took home the gold are the best in the entire world. We cheered them on and we felt their national pride as medals were placed around their necks.

Inspired by Olympians, let us tap into the same level of commitment, focus and intensity. Let us visualize our finish line, vowing to leave the stands and get off the sidelines of doubt and press toward the mark.

Monica’s Motivational Moment: Many Roads Will Lead Us

Our litany of excuses threatened to drown out the call of our dreams. We listen to conventional wisdom’s arguments that lure us down predictable and worn-out paths. We gamble that by following a reasonable strategy, we will eventually be rewarded with safety and an easy life.

But our restless spirits, worried that we are ignoring the longings of our hearts, plead with us to trust, believe, take bold action and have faith. Let us look upon the vastness of possibilities, confident many roads will lead us to where we need to end up. Courage will be our guide.

Monica’s Motivational Moment: The Cost of Distractions

Distractions appear innocent as first, disguised as a harmless break, a few moments of mindless entertainment, or a quick connection with others by phone or social media. We reasoned that there is little harm in spending a few minutes taking our minds off our dreams or assisting someone else with their passion.

Distractions are insatiable, demanding more and more attention. Undisciplined, distractions fuel thoughts of unworthiness, doubt and resentment. Before long, we are spending valuable energy focusing on anything and everything but our dreams. Before we say yes to a distraction, let us determine if it is worth the cost.

Monica’s Motivational Moment: Privilege of Manifesting Our Dreams

Trying to please, placate and play small will not appease nor silence our critics. We can spend so much energy feeling demoralized by discouraging comments, or rejected by unsupportive colleagues and family members.

We must find the courage to move forward in boldness, even when we feel alone or abandoned. The responsibility and privilege of manifesting our dreams rests lovingly upon our shoulders.
